The Brazilian based tourism company, CVC Brasil Operadora e Agencia de Viagens S.A. was founded in 1972 by philanthropist and entrepreneur Guilherme Paulus. The young business graduate during the 70s along with his partner Carlos Vicente Cerchiari would initiate a change in the business world and influence the economy for many years to come. In 1974 Carlos Vicente Cerchiari would step aside and sell his ownership in CVC Brasil leaving the company to run by his partner, Guilherme. Since taking over, Guilherme Paulus has grown CVC Brasil to become an internationally recognized tourism firm. Nine years ago, the Carlyle Group announced plans to buy 63% of CVC Brasil Operadora e Agencia de Viagens S.A in a deal that was projected to be worth $420 million.
In 2013, Guilherme Paulus became Chairman of the Board of Directors at CVC Brasil Operadora e Agencia de Viagens S.A. a position he still holds today. With over 35 years in the tourism industry, Guilherme has achieved many great feats throughout his business professional career and today remains one the most respected and celebrated business in the country. Currently serving as a member of the board at GJP FIP, Mr. Paulus is also a member of the Tourism National Board named by the Republic’s president. Recognized as a billionaire in 2013 by Forbes magazine, Guilherme Paulus is singlehandedly credited with many economic beneficial deals that have resulted in positively affecting the lives of thousands.
Currently the largest tourism firm in Brazil with an international presence in Europe, Argentina and Uruguay, CVC Brasil Operadora e Agencia de Viagens S.A. employees over 3200 people and does business with more than 1000 suppliers. Guilherme Paulus other company, GJP Hotels and Resorts he founded in 2005 and has since grown to include 15 hotels and resorts in Brazil with plans to crack into the real estate market around the airports in the near future.
