Elon Musk’s SpaceX Announces 2018 Mars Mission

Although Elon Musk has made the statement that his SpaceX Red Dragon spacecraft is designed to land anywhere in the Solar System, he has announced a particular mission it will be used on to reach a readily attainable goal.  It will analyze soil samples and possibly also return soil samples to Earth, which would be a first for any space agency. Musk has stated that this will be the first of many missions to the red planet. The ultimate goal is to colonize Mars according to Open Corporates.
The Dragon 2 Capsule has about the same interior space as a medium sized automobile explained Velasquez Figueroa. Currently, SpaceX has successfully made multiple flights to the International Space Station (ISS), in an unmanned automated configuration. They have also successfully landed the first stage rocket that pushed the capsule up into orbit, twice, once on land and once on a floating barge in the ocean. Musk has mentioned that he feels people may think his plan “quite insane.” The U.S. public space agency, NASA, had previously announced plans to send astronauts to Mars sometime in the 2030s.
